Anne’s first cookbook was published in 1974. Few authors have written so widely and so
internationally about French cooking and the culinary heritage of France. Here are some Anne Willan books to look out for and enjoy:

The Country Cooking of France (Chronicle Books, 2007)

Now you’ll be able to bring French regional cooking right into your own kitchen.  My latest book, THE COUNTRY COOKING OF FRANCE, from Chronicle Books, is now available.  Like La Varenne’s COUNTRY COOKING OF FRANCE course, the book takes you on a culinary journey through the traditions of the many distinct gastronomic regions of France.  Recipes range from time-honored favorites like Le Cassoulet de Toulouse to contemporary Crêpes au Caramel et Buerre Salé.  The book is full of wonderful photos of the recipes, markets, villages and ingredients that make rural France special and make this book as beautiful to look at as to cook from.  I hope you'll look for it in your neighborhood bookstore, or, better yet, click here to order a copy right now.

A Cook’s Book of Quick Fixes & Kitchen Tips (John Wiley & Sons, 2005).

However experienced a cook you are, there are still some times when things go wrong. Maybe your ingredients weren’t the greatest, or you left that pot on the stove too long, or your finished dish just seems kind of blah.  A Cook’s Book of Quick Fixes & Kitchen Tips is jam-packed with invaluable hints and tips, filled with the wisdom and experience of one of the food world’s most renowned teachers. In this book, you’ll not only learn how to avoid or salvage culinary disasters, but you’ll find lots of good, down-to-earth advice as well as inspiring ways to lift food from the mundane to the magnificent.  It’s the perfect gift for cooks of all skill levels.  To order this book click here.

The Good Cook (Stewart, Tabori and Chang, 2004) offers a comprehensive course for the home cook, outlining all of the essential techniques and including hundreds of accompanying recipes that every good cook needs to know.  The Good Cook addresses every subject of importance to home cooks, including essential flavors and sauces; fish, meat and poultry; vegetables and eggs; pasta and pastry. Clear step-by-step photographs illustrate more than 70 basic techniques, which are followed by easy-to-execute recipes.

I have long been an admirer of Anne’s talents as cook, author, and teacher. Her new cookbook, The Good Cook, is filled with her passion for her chosen vocation. In every page, she gently coaches and generously shares her years of cooking experience. Amateur cooks and professional alike will benefit from The Good Cook enormously.
